Here's the dilemma, I need to move files from one PC to another in order to sync my phone with iTunes, so I do that, add it to the library and then sync. Does it matter if I then delete the files from the PC that has iTunes on as long as I leave the details in the library or will that then delete them from the phone at the next sync? |

Yeah, you've got to have the files on the PC for iTunes to Sync it to the iPhone. |

Yeah but what I mean is this - I have 10 films on PC, I sync it to phone. I delete those films from PC and add 2 more to PC. When I go to sync it again will those 10 films still be listed in the iTunes library so I can just leave the boxes ticked or will they have disappeared from the library as well because technically I don't want to add them again but just to leave them on the phone while I add others? Hope that makes sense :) |

You'd have to import the films into iTunes, so you can delete the original files as they will be included in the iTunes library database file. When you add another 2 films you can import them into iTunes, and they will be added to the library also. Once they are imported into iTunes they'll always be there until you actually right-click and delete the file from iTunes. |

That's what I wanted to hear, I've been adding them one by one so far by importing the file and then syncing, and each time I import another the previous ones are still listed so hopefully that will work OK. I think to be safe I'll just leave all the films on the HDD until I get back from holiday anyway and have a proper play around when I get back but I'm guessing if I delete from HDD and untick the box in iTunes then it will remove from the phone at sync, and if I try ticking the box again at the next sync it wont work as although it will be listed in the library it wont be able to locate it on the HDD. Or does it duplicate the file on the HDD when you import into the library? |

Anything unticked will not be synced to your phone, but will still exist in iTunes. It won't remove it from the phone if it is unticked on the next sync. I usually have all my music unticked, until I need to sync it to my iPhone when I buy more music. Then once it's on my phone I'll untick it in iTunes again. To remove it from the phone you'd have to delete it from iTunes then do a full sync If the movie has been imported into iTunes then it (iTunes) will reference the iTunes Library database file, not the *physical* movie on the hard drive. Once it's imported into iTunes you can delete the file you imported from the HDD no probs, as iTunes won't reference that file, instead it references the file you imported. |
